Your Guide to Santa’s Holiday Island

The holidays are quickly approaching, which means it’s time again for many of our favorite traditions, including a trip to Santa’s Holiday Island. Every year, residents from across the Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Downey area head to Heritage Park to see it transformed into a winter wonderland and to visit with Santa.

This one-of-a-kind event is the perfect thing to get you and your family into the holiday spirit, not to mention a great way to keep the kids active during the winter break from school.

About Santa’s Holiday Island

Santa’s Holiday Island is a perfect holiday adventure for children both young and old. Completely free to enter, Holiday Island is located at Family Heritage Park and will take place on Saturday, December 12 from noon to 3:30 pm. All afternoon, children can enjoy a variety of activities and holiday fun, from hands-on craft making to music, dancing, and caroling around the island.

In addition to providing kids with the perfect play area for getting into the holiday spirit, the Santa’s Holiday Island event is a great opportunity for you to support a good cause. Families are encouraged to bring with them at least two cans of food or new, unwrapped toys to donate. These items will be given to local food charities or holiday gift programs such as Toys for Tots®.

About Heritage Park Play Island

During the Santa’s Holiday Island event, Heritage Park Play Island becomes a magical place, complete with Santa’s holiday magic. But for the other 364 days of the year, it’s still an extraordinary free park that attracts both local residents and tourists.

Aside from the play equipment, there’s a number of historic buildings and locations scattered across the island. In fact, the entire island is designed to resemble a Bostonian Village, complete with historic-looking buildings modeled after designs from the American Revolution.

Children can enjoy the slides both hidden and in plain sight, and they can enjoy a playground that’s sure to entertain them and their friends for hours. For slightly older children, there are basketball courts with lights and a baseball field to play a quick game.
