2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe: An Affordable Sports Car

Hyundai has really made waves in the auto industry with its vehicles that have low prices but have pretty great features.  The success of models like the Elantra and the Tucson showed everyone this Asian brand will compete with the best. This year, Hyundai hopes to make more waves with a sports car entry – the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. The 2013 Genesis Coupe has six available trims – 2.0T, 2.0T R-Spec, 2.0T Premium, 3.8 R-Spec, 3.8 Grand Touring and 3.8 Track. The numbers stand for the two engine choices one can have. First is the 2.0L turbocharged engine generating 274hp and 275 lbs. of torque. The fuel rating is 21 mpg city/30 mpg highway. The second engine type is a 3.8L V6 that generates 348hp and 295 lbs. of torque. It consumes fuel at 18 mpg city/28 mpg highway.

Interior features depend on the trim you have. Base features include automatic headlights, air-conditioning, a trip computer, cruise control, tilting telescopic steering wheel, a 6-speaker stereo system with CD player, Bluetooth and smartphone connectivity, a satellite radio, and interface for a USB/iPod.

Other features available on higher trims include 19” tires, Brembo brakes, automatic climate control, a sunroof, navigation system, heated mirrors, the BlueLink telematics system equipped with SMS messaging and vehicle maintenance reminders, keyless ignition/entry, rear parking sensors, and a 10-speaker Infinity premium stereo.

Safety features of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe include disc brakes with antilock braking system, front seat side airbags and side curtain airbags, head restraints, stability/traction control, daytime running lights, and emergency trunk release.

Depending on the trim, the 2013 Genesis Coupe is priced from $24,200-$33,000, pretty lower than other sports cars. Power is one thing the Genesis Coupe lacks, compared to other sports cars like the Ford Mustang and the Nissan 370Z. It also lacks space compared to the Mustang and another sports car, the Subaru BRZ. Overall though, the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is a good sports car to have.
